WHY FAST?

To draw CLOSER to God. During our 14 Days, prayer and fasting go together; as we humble ourselves with fasting we speak to God in prayer. And as we draw near to God His Word says that He will draw near to us (James 4:8). Jesus says in Matthew 6:16-18 "..WHEN you fast..." Fasting should be part of a believers lifestyle.

PREPARATION

Spiritually:
Get your heart right with God. Confess any known sins, and do not think of fasting as earning points with God. Humble yourself before God through fasting. When we do this God shows up in powerful ways.

Physically:
Drink lots of clean water and reduce the amount of food that you eat three days before the fast starts.

Emotionally:
Fasting doesn’t only challenge you physically but also emotionally, which could tempt you to quit. Fasting is not easy, but as you draw near to God He will give you the strength to overcome.

TYPES OF FASTING

Full Fast:
Drinking liquids only.
 
Daniel Fast:
Eating only vegetables, fruit, water and juice (minimal amount of carbohydrates).
 
Partial Fast:
Not eating one or two meals or abstaining from certain kinds of food.

Timed Fast:
Not eating food for a certain period of the day. For example, not eating solids from 6am until 6pm. 

Important Note: Fasting requires reasonable precautions
If you have any health concerns, please consult your Doctor prior to beginning your fast, especially if you are taking any medication, have a chronic condition, or are pregnant or nursing a baby.
